— Know where your child stands
Initial Reading Assessment
What is the assessment?
The Initial Reading Assessment is a comprehensive, one-on-one evaluation of your child’s current reading skills. Conducted by a certified structured literacy specialist, it looks at every layer of reading — from phonemic awareness and phonics to fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension — to identify exactly where your child’s strengths and gaps are. Sessions take approximately 60–90 minutes and can be done in person or virtually.
What do parents receive?
After the assessment you will receive a clear, written summary of your child’s results in plain language — no confusing jargon. It will tell you where your child is performing relative to grade-level expectations, which specific skills need support, and a recommended plan of action. This report is also something you can bring to your child’s school or share with their teacher or IEP team.
How much does it cost?
The Initial Reading Assessment is $95 and is recommended before beginning any tutoring package. For families who enroll in the Intensive package, the assessment fee is included at no extra charge. Many parents choose to start here even if they are not sure yet whether tutoring is the right fit — it gives you real answers so you can make an informed decision for your child.
